November 27th, 2015 by Ryan Sundling

Everyone loves to eat. So it’s a good thing SkyVue apartments offers some of the best-equipped kitchens of any apartments for rent in Pittsburgh, PA, with open layouts, granite counters, and sleek modern appliances. But when you’re surrounded by one of the top culinary scenes in the country, why not set aside a night to let the pros wow you with some amazing dishes?
Whirl Magazine’s fantastic coverage of the burgh’s top restaurants culminates each year with their Chef’s Best Dish Awards. Earlier this month, over 600 attendees sampled dishes from 25 of Pittsburgh’s top restaurants at their 3rd annual award event. Check out our top three favorite winners below, which include some delectable seasonal bites and even a food truck. Bon appétit!
1. Girasole – Pumpkin and butternut squash ravioli with pancetta, walnuts, and sage in a brown butter sauce
A charming Shadyside café and Italian food institution, Girasole won best seasonal dish with these awesome autumn-inspired ravioli, made locally at Fede Pasta.
2. Burgh Bites – Herb and bacon-infused sausage meatballs served over bourbon-glazed apples, braised cabbage, and crisp bacon
This is no ordinary food truck. Three-time winners, Burgh Bites, source herbs from their garden for a surprisingly gourmet menu that rotates seasonally. Find out what they’re serving and where they’ll be each week at their Facebook page.
3. Soba – Chilean sea bass satays
We head back to scenic Shadyside to the swanky pan-Asian eatery, Soba. Winner of the best overall dish, Soba’s skewered sea bass is grilled in a miso and sake marinade with chive and lemon for a deliciously dressed up take on traditional street food.
