Life is Better in Apartments in Pittsburgh
November 15th, 2016 by Ryan Sundling

Today’s blog post will be about figuring out what why life at downtown apartments in Pittsburgh is so pleasant. Is it the incredible variety of traditional and modern food options? Is it the number of affordable Pittsburgh apartments for rent? Maybe the answer is right in front of us. There’s no denying that Pittsburgh has beautiful scenery no matter where you look. From the skyscrapers downtown to the foliage in our parks, Pittsburgh is easy on the eyes.
In fact, there may be even more beauty in Pittsburgh than most people realize. Pittsburgh has a large number of historical houses and neighborhoods. The city is downright old, and even though it’s changed a lot in the past couple years, its proud past can be found all over town. Check out this list of historic landmarks that you’ve probably never heard of. Imagine taking a stroll through one of these neighborhoods on a crisp fall day. Sounds like a nice date idea if you ask us.
Pittsburgh also boasts a terrific public transport system, consisting of ten fixed route public transportation agencies serving riders in the 10-county Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission region. The city’s smart cards also make it easy for passengers to get on and off the trains, busses and trolleys. In some areas downtown, the busses are actually free. Those free bus rides can be used to get around downtown Pittsburgh at the First Avenue Station, Steel Plaza, Wood Street Station and Gateway. It couldn’t be easier to get around these days, and as the weather gets colder you may want to start using some of these public transport options instead of your bike. Find out more about Pittsburgh’s public transportation options here. It’s becoming easier and easier to keep your car parked in the garage until you really need it. Especially since Pittsburgh is also the first city to start using Self-Driving Uber cars, which is way cool if you ask us.
We mentioned the physical beauty of Pittsburgh’s architecture earlier, but any list of the city’s scenic areas has to include the beautiful park system as well. There’s no shortage of scenic waterways with our three rivers converging on the city. However, Pittsburgh’s city planners didn’t leave all the greenery near the water. They dedicated more than 2,000 acres of city land to public parks as well. The largest and most famous park is of course, Frick Park which covers more than 660 acres of land on its own. The closest park to SkyVue Apartments in Pittsburgh is Schenley Park, which covers more than 400 acres next to Carnegie Mellon University. Schenley is home to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, considered one of the “world’s greenest public gardens.” Pittsburgh’s incredible man-made beauty is second only to it’s natural beauty, and that’s something every citizen can be proud of.
Of course we all know what Pittsburgh citizens are most proud of; Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams. The Steelers, Penguins and Pirates have brought this city some tremendous highs over the years, and the fans have responded by being some of the most passionate, knowledgeable fans in the country. We love our yellow and black teams, but do you know why they all have the same color scheme? Those are actually the colors of Pittsburgh’s flag, which in turn, is based on the coat of arms of William Pitt, the 18th century British prime minister for whom the city is named. Pittsburgh’s history really is hiding in plain sight all over town, from the houses to the sports teams.
