July 5th, 2016 by Ryan Sundling

SkyVue apartments in Pittsburgh is perfectly located for enjoying the best culture in Pittsburgh. Whether you’re obsessed with restaurants, art galleries or new concert venues, you can experience it all from your home at SkyVue Pittsburgh apartments. Summer concert season is in full swing, so the team at SkyVue put together this list of must-see concerts with a little help from our friends at NextPittsburgh.
Dave Matthews Band comes to town on July 9th for a Saturday night performance. In classic Dave Matthews Band fashion, the concert will be held outdoors at the First Niagara Pavilion. You can fork over the big bucks for assigned seats up front or sprawl out on the grassy hill a little farther back from the stage. People go to DMB shows to slowly sway back and forth to 13-minute songs, so if you do decide to go, prepare yourself for some trance-inducing tunes.
For live music that won’t take chunks out of your bank account, check out the totally free 4th annual Deutschtown Music Festival on July 8th and 9th. More than 100 local bands you may or may not have heard of will perform across 23 stages during the 2 day music festival. On Friday, shows begin at 4pm, or show up right after breakfast on Saturday for music starting at 11am.
Some of the concerts take place at the very cool James Street Gastropub and Speakeasy. This venue specializes in Cajun food, craft cocktails and local wine from Pittsburgh wineries. Most of the venues are just across the river in the East Ohio St business district within walking distance of SkyVue Pittsburgh apartments. This means worries about traffic or Uber surges are finally over!
Ryan Adams and Noel Gallagher are set to perform with their respective bands on July 13th at the Stage AE outdoor venue. Both indie rockstars are worth the price of admission, but the concert venue itself is also a major draw. If you’ve never been, Stage AE is located right next to the Allegheny River and provides spectacular views of the nearby Pittsburgh skyline.
Macy Gray has decided to bless Pittsburgh with her presence on July 14th at Carnegie Music Hall. The Grammy award winning singer is only performing in six U.S. cities on her summer tour, so be sure to capitalize on your chance to hear her amazing voice in person.
Speaking of amazing voices, blues-folk singer Shakey Graves will be in town on July 15th. The Americana Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year is performing at Mr. Smalls Fun House in Millvale. This unique venue is houses inside an old church and features a 2nd floor restaurant, underground draft beer bunker and several art galleries. Long story short, Mr. Smalls is definitely a must-see for Pittsburgh music lovers. If you can’t make it to the July 15th Shakey Graves show, you can still see great music at Mr. Smalls when the AltRock group Frightened Rabbit performs there on July 24th.
If you like your music paired with philanthropy, be sure to check out the Feed More Festival on July 17th at Stage AE. Cold War Kids is the big music headliner, but it will be hard for them to overshadow the wide array of Pittsburgh food trucks that will be selling BBQ during the concerts. The Feed More Festival is a benefit show for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, so get out there and help your fellow Pittsburghers while enjoying live music and delicious local food.
Stay tuned for more information about upcoming shows in the Pittsburgh area from the team at SkyVue apartments in Pittsburgh.
