Get Spooky at These Essential Halloween Outings
October 23rd, 2015 by Ryan Sundling

As the newest and most dynamic apartments in Pittsburgh,
there’s nothing scary about living at SkyVue. But with Halloween
around the corner, we can’t think of a better way to have a
frightfully good time than a good old haunted house. To help you
select one with just the right amount of spooky, we’ve listed our
top 3 favorite haunted houses from Pittsburgh Magazine’s 10
Essential Halloween Outings in Pittsburgh.
1. The ScareHouse in Etna was named one of America’s
scariest haunted houses by Good Morning America, The
Travel Channel, and USA Today. A deal with film studio
Legendary Pictures led to two new themed haunts for
2015. One borrows characters from 2007 cult favorite
“Trick’r Treat. And “Krampus: Come All Ye Faithful
takes inspiration from Legendary’s forthcoming creature
feature based on Germany’s creepy evil Santa legend.
Meanwhile, an all-new Basement experience promises R-
rated scariness for the big kids.
2. Hundred Acres Manor in South Park promises good
scares for good causes. It was named Pittsburg’s best
haunted house by Haunt World Magazine and proceeds
benefit Animal Friends and the Homeless Children’s
Education Fund. The attraction features six distinct areas
including a maze filled with zombies and chainsaw-
wielding maniacs. Come after Halloween weekend for
Lights Out, a total-darkness version of the attraction
benefitting Aiden Zangrilli, a local 2-year old suffering
from leukemia.
3. Finally, for a Halloween experience that’s more kid-
friendly and less terrifying, head over to the National
Aviary for Owl-a-Ween. That is…unless you’re terrified of
Owls. Visitors will be introduced to a quartet of the
nocturnal birds and treated to candy, crafts, and more.
Youngsters are encouraged to attend in costume.
From everyone at SkyVue, have a safe & happy Halloween!
